Eyelash Extensions – Pre and post care
Ensuring the proper care leading up to, and immediately after your appointment is important to get the most out of your eyelash extensions and appointment time. To get the best possible result and for the safety of your natural lashes, please follow the care instructions listed below.
EYELASH EXTENSIONS APPOINTMENT PREP
Clean Lashes – Make sure all of your eye make-up is removed with absolutely no make-up residue left behind. Lash extensions need clean lashes to adhere to.
Lotions – Avoid using any lotion or oil-based product around the eye area before your lash appointment. If possible apply absolutely no lotion at all before your appointment.
**Please Note: As long as you have lash extensions it is not advised to use any oil-based make-up products/cleansers or any make-up (especially eyeliner) with oil in it. Oil will break down the adhesive in your lash extensions and they will not last as long.**
EYELASH EXTENSIONS POST CARE
Immediately After – Avoid getting lash extensions wet for at least 10 minutes after your appointment.
Heat – Avoid strong heat such as ovens or BBQs as heat can melt or distort extensions.
Be Gentle – Do not pull at your lashes or rub your eyes. Picking at your lashes can harm your natural lash.
Mascara – Only use extension safe mascara. Most clients will find no need for mascara.
Lash curler – Do not use an eyelash curler on your extensions.
Cleaning – It is extremely important to keep your lashes and lash extensions clean. Clean lashes are healthy lashes. Clean your lashes 1-2 times a day with an oil free make-up remover or cleanser. This will help extend the life of your lash extensions and prevent any dirt or bacteria buildup. It’s important to avoid using any products with oil around the eye area as oil will break down the adhesive in your lash extensions and cause premature shedding.
Future Appointments – Book a fill appointment every 2-3 weeks to maintain your eyelash extensions. This will keep them full and prevent damage to your natural lash. Please call for an appointment if you would like your lash extensions removed instead of just letting them fall out. This will also prevent damage to your natural lashes.
After Care Products – We have after care products such as cleansers, towels, and brushes available for purchase. Ask for more info from your lash artist at your next appointment!
